If Canada had managed to pull off one of the biggest upsets in the competition, then Drake would have collected an impressive $2.88 million. However, he is no stranger to placing losing bets, often wagering large sums on various events and experiencing both significant wins and disappointing losses.

An Impressive Run from Canada

Canada had a better run in the tournament than many would have predicted. At the start, the team was ranked eleventh out of the sixteen teams taking part. It was also their first appearance in the tournament and they were hoping to win their first major title since the North American Nations Cup in 1990.

Tuesday evening’s game was the second time that Canada had faced Argentina in the Copa América. They lost the first game of the group stage 2-0 on June 20 and then lost this week’s game 2-0 with goals from Julián Álvarez and Lionel Messi.

A History of Sports Betting

Drake is well known for his love of sports and betting on them. His last high-profile bet was on the Super Bowl in February. Drake bet $1.15 million on the Kansas City Chiefs to win saying that he didn’t want to bet against his fans and Taylor Swift and her fans. Following the game, Drake received a payout of $2.3 million.

However, things have not always gone so well for the musician. He has been known to lose significant sums of money betting on sports as diverse as football, MMA, boxing and basketball.

In fact, he has lost so many bets that when he does back a team, it has come to be known as the “Drake Curse”. For instance, last year he lost a string of bets on UFC fights including $500,000 on Israel Adesanya to win against Sean Strickland by knockout and $275,000 on Jorge Masividal to defeat Colby Covington.
