Illegal Casino Operation Shut Down in Anaheim
ANAHEIM, Calif. – Anaheim police detained 18 people after raiding a commercial property allegedly operating as an illegal gambling den.
The property, located on Dale Avenue, was allegedly running 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Police said the site contained many gambling machines when investigators executed a search warrant at around 11 a.m. Monday. Officers seized gambling machines and a significant amount of cash from the property.

Police Say Property Had Been Shut Down Before
Authorities said some of the people found at the site appeared to be living inside the building, even though the property is registered for commercial use. Anaheim police said this was not the first investigation involving the location. The same property was previously shut down last year for illegal gambling before allegedly reopening. Police have not yet said whether any of the 18 people detained will face formal charges.
The raid comes as Anaheim continues efforts to address businesses linked to illegal gambling and other public safety concerns. Local officials have been using business permits, inspections and enforcement tools to target commercial properties suspected of operating as nuisance locations. Illegal gambling sites in Southern California are sometimes described as slaphouses or casitas, often operating behind ordinary storefronts with gaming machines inside.
More Regulation
Investigation Remains Ongoing
Detectives are continuing to process gambling machines, cash and other evidence seized from the Dale Avenue property. Police have not released additional information about the ownership or management of the alleged gambling operation.
The case remains active as investigators work to determine who was responsible for running the site and whether further enforcement action will follow.
