Norway to Tighten Electronic Bingo Loss Limits
The Norwegian Government has amended its gambling regulations to introduce stricter responsible gaming measures in the bingo industry.
LISTEN TO THIS ARTICLE:Under the new legislation, operators and suppliers will be required to register, and loss limits will be implemented across online bingo platforms and electronic bingo machines in physical locations.
Set to take effect across 2025, the sweeping reforms aim to address practical challenges faced by industry associations and provide a safer gaming environment for players.
Starting January 1, 2025, game suppliers must register to supply content to bingo halls nationwide. Furthermore, from September 1, 2025, Norwegian bingo halls must offer customers the option to set personal loss limits while also registering their venues to ensure compliance.

Electronic bingo games in bingo halls and online in connection with the bingo venue have for a long time been allowed to operate without loss limits, this has come at the expense of vulnerable players and their relatives. That is why we are now putting in place more responsible frameworks around these gambling games. We would, of course, have wanted everything to be in place by the turn of the year, but in this context, have chosen to listen to the industry associations who have given a good description of the challenges that the changes entail.
