Delaware iGaming Revenue Grows Again in September

The online gambling market in Delaware has continued to grow in September, with another month of strong performance reported. The increase in revenue from last year’s numbers is despite people gambling less than before and with a slight decline from the record numbers that were posted for August.

The Figures in Detail

The new figures revealed a 118.3% year-on-year rise in online gambling revenue in Delaware, rising to $840,146 in September. This comes as the amount wagered in the month totaled just over $18 million, which represents 8.6% less than had been gambled in the previous month.

When compared to September last year, the amount wagered has increased by almost 45%, from the total of $12.5 million that was gambled by players in the same month in 2019.

A breakdown of the total reveals that video lottery was a big contributor to these enhanced numbers, with over $610,000 of the growth coming in this area. In fact, $10.9 million was spent on video lottery playing in the month.

Table games were next on the list, although this market only generated a relatively modest $178,387 in revenue from wagers totaling $6.4 million. Poker games also generated a little over $51,000 in terms of revenue in rake and fees.

Players winnings in September reached $17.3 million when we add up the activity in all of the three operators that are licensed in the state. This was a big increase from the $11.4 million won last September, but a modest drop from August’s $19.1 million.

What About the Operator Profits?

As we have seen, there are three licensed operators in the Delaware online gambling market. Of these three companies, Delaware Park led the marker last month, with revenue reaching an impressive 325,671, which is from $6.5 million in total wagers.

Second place is taken by Dover Downs, which slipped back from first place in August. In September, this operator collected revenue adding up to $309,884 from the $6.4 million that they accepted in bets from their users.

The other company with an online gambling license in Delaware is called Harrington Raceway. Their revenue in the month was $203,590, which was achieved from $5 million in wagers.

The Year to Date

The numbers for September let us see that it has been an impressive 2020 so far for the online gambling industry in Delaware. The first nine months of the year have produced $6.5 million in revenue.

This represents a 140% increase from the first nine months of 2019, with one of the most important factors being that the amount wagered has increased by close to 65%, giving a total of over $159 million this year so far.

It should be noted that August was a record-breaking month, as the operators produced their best month in terms of revenue since the market here was regulated. However, with only 571 new player registrations, there were signs of a slight slow-down following the boom period earlier in the year when record numbers of new players were signing up.
