Omicron Causes Delay of ASEAN Gaming Summit 2022

Asia Gaming Brief has announced that following consultations with the gambling industry and various stakeholders, the 2022 ASEAN Gaming Summit will be delayed. Rather than taking place in March 2022, it will now be held in July 2022 in order to give more time for the easing of travel restrictions.

As the Omicron variant continues to cause havoc across the world, this is the latest of several gaming conferences, such as ICE London, to have been delayed in recent weeks.

Felix Ng - Conference Director at ASEAN Gaming Summit

We have unfortunately witnessed an increasingly challenging environment in Manila and the Philippines in recent weeks, not only from a travel perspective but from a logistics and workforce standpoint as well. As disappointed as we are to have to postpone the event for another few months, we made the decision under the commitment to provide a standout in-person event, which would not be possible at our planned March dates.

Discussions are currently underway with the venue, the Shangri-La at the Fort in Manila, Philippines, to finalize new dates for the summit in July. In addition to making it easier for interested parties to attend the summit, the delay will also ensure that the various high-profile speakers due to address the conference will be able to attend.
