Playtech Games Unavailable at Chumba Casino
The sweepstakes casino scene in California appears to be at a fever pitch.

Between AB 831 advancing to the Senate, to certain cities and three tribes coming out against it, and the Los Angeles City attorney filing a lawsuit against Stake.us and several game providers, a lot is going on.
Now, Chumba Casino has notified its California-based players that Playtech games will be off limits.
Email Sent to Players
Chumba Casino sent out an email to players that stated it would be removing some games, and listed Mega Fire Blaze: Big Circus, Oink Oink Oink, and Tsai Shen’s Gift Fire Blaze, as examples.
According to Sweepsy, Live Blackjack, a Playtech title, was unavailable on Wednesday.
As mentioned above, a lawsuit was filed by the Los Angeles City attorney, naming Playtech along with Sweepsteaks Ltd., the operator of Stake.us, Hacksaw Gaming, Pragmatic Play, Evolution, and others. However, Playtech wasn’t named in the lawsuit.
Still, the lawsuit is from the Los Angeles City attorney, and not a player, so this could have serious implications, especially if AB 831 passes.
As a response to the uncertainty and the bill, Pragmatic Play has completely pulled out of the United States.

A Different Kind of Lawsuit
As mentioned, this lawsuit is unique in that it’s coming from the Los Angeles City attorney and not a player. With a player, cases involving sweepstakes casinos, like one involving Stake.us earlier this year, are sent to arbitration per the terms of use. However, this isn’t from an entity that played at any of these sites.
While players or class-action suits may seek financial compensation, a lawsuit from a city attorney can result in things far more severe, such as up to and including criminal charges.
So far, we’ve seen Pragmatic Play leave the United States altogether, Evolution pulled out of Stake.us in California, and now it appears Playtech games are gone from Chumba Casino.
It’s unclear why the games are taken offline, but due to the lawsuit, it could be to protect themselves from being named in any other suit of this kind, but that’s purely speculation.
We’ll see what happens in California ahead of the legislative session end date of Sept. 12.
