THACKERVILLE, Okla. – A suspect died after an officer involved shooting near WinStar Casino on Thursday.

Authorities said the initial call came in at about 12:15 p.m. local time and concerned a person believed to be suicidal in the area near the casino. Chickasaw Lighthorse officers responded, located the individual outside the property, and an officer involved shooting occurred during that encounter, according to statements released by local authorities. No officers were reported injured.
The Love County Sheriff’s Office said its deputies were first asked to help secure the scene, though that request was cancelled while deputies were en route because Chickasaw Lighthorse officers already had the area under control. Sheriff Andy Cumberledge later said he had been assured there was no ongoing threat to the public.
