Beginners Luck Lands 68-Year-Old Punter a £180,000 Poker Win

The Grosvenor casino in Yarmouth, UK, has revealed that a 68 man has won £180,000 whilst playing poker at their casino.

Rookie player has won £180,000

Ian Kettle, from Colchester, visited the casino on August 7th with his wife, and quite astonishingly, he only learned how to play poker six weeks previously, having practiced online.

The retired fencing contractor landed a Royal Flush, shared his good fortune with his wife of 46 years, and generously tipped the dealer before celebrating with the rest of the table.

When asked what he planned to do with his winnings, Mr. Kettle said that he had not decided yet but that he has given £30,000 to his children so that they can give his grandchildren a better life.

He added, “I was absolutely stunned when I realized I had the winning hand. I had to double-check and then again give it another look before I could believe what had just happened. “I think the other players at the table and the dealer had to do the same as me when I showed them my cards. I went to tell my wife, and we then called our children, who simply could not believe it. “Our first thought was to share it with my family so they can be comfortable. After that, I may treat myself to visiting a couple of golf courses for a round or two.”

Thomas Sharpe, general manager of the Grosvenor Casino in Great Yarmouth, said: “We are thrilled for Mr. Kettle. It’s such a great thing to see our customers win a jackpot and the joy that follows a huge win like that.”
