bet365 Launches in Maryland Ahead of NFL Season Kickoff
bet365 has officially entered Maryland's sports betting scene, bringing the number of mobile wagering platforms in the state to 12.

The app went live on August 30, 2025, following regulatory approval from the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency, which granted the operator a sports betting license after a successful controlled demonstration on August 28.
bet365's entry into Maryland comes at a strategic moment, just days before the start of the 2025 NFL regular season on September 4, when the Philadelphia Eagles face the Dallas Cowboys. The timing positions the platform to capitalize on heightened interest in football betting, particularly with local teams like the Baltimore Ravens set to open their season against the Buffalo Bills on September 7.
bet365’s Growing US FootPrint
This move brings bet365's US operations to 15 states, including neighboring Virginia and Pennsylvania, as the company continues its steady expansion in the American market. The Maryland launch is part of bet365's ambitious 2025 US expansion, marked by entries into multiple states, as the company seeks to capitalize on the growing trend of sports betting legalization.
Earlier in the year, bet365 expanded to Tennessee and Illinois in March, marking its 12th and 13th states, respectively, through partnerships and regulatory approvals that emphasized mobile accessibility and robust promotional offerings. Last month, the operator entered Kansas as its 14th market, becoming the seventh online sportsbook there and timing the rollout to coincide with preseason NFL activity, much like in Maryland.
These expansions have been driven by bet365's commitment to the American audience, as evidenced by its membership in the Sports Betting Alliance in June 2025. Looking ahead, bet365 is poised for further growth, with Missouri anticipated as a potential next launch by December 2025, pending final regulatory hurdles.

Competitive Market Landscape
Maryland's online sports betting sector, which fully launched in November 2022, has grown competitive with established players like DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars, ESPN Bet, and Fanatics already holding significant shares. bet365, while not yet matching the market dominance of leaders like DraftKings and FanDuel, has built a loyal user base in other states through competitive odds and features like early cash-out options. The operator will aim to replicate this success in Maryland.
bet365 faces a 20% tax on gross gaming revenue in Maryland, which goes towards the state’s Blueprint for Maryland's Future Fund. This tax structure has proven lucrative; in July 2025 alone, Maryland's sports betting handle reached $364.1 million, generating over $7.2 million in tax revenue. Since legal sports wagering began in December 2021, the state has collected more than $182.8 million in taxes from the industry.
