The initiative could boost hotel bookings and gaming revenue at Circa, the D Las Vegas and Golden Gate as operators try to revive cross-border travel demand.

Circa, the D Las Vegas and Golden Gate say more than 15,000 Canadian visitors came through their doors in the first 30 days of the initiative, generating roughly 2,700 hotel room bookings, executives announced. The promotion, which treats each Canadian dollar as equal to one U.S. dollar on qualifying purchases, was launched in late January and has been extended through Aug. 31.

The group attributes the early boost in visitation to the removal of a common friction point for international travelers: currency conversion. Under the promotion, eligible Canadian guests pay the posted U.S. dollar price when using Canadian currency at participating outlets across the three properties, avoiding the market exchange rate and typical currency fees. The casinos said the program applies to select hotel, gaming, beverage and entertainment purchases; they also offered slot-play credits and at-par pricing at several bars.

“‘At Par’ has created real momentum with our Canadian guests right out of the gate, and that means a lot to me, personally, given my lifelong connection to Canada”, Derek Stevens, co-owner and chief executive officer of Circa, D Las Vegas and Golden Gate, said in the company's statement. Stevens also linked the promotion to programming aimed at Canadian travelers, noting ticket availability at parity for two performances by Canadian DJ Excision on April 24 and 25 at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center.

Executives said the promotion will also support free public entertainment in downtown Las Vegas this summer, including a planned performance by Canadian rock band Finger Eleven at the Fremont Street Experience on June 27 as part of the Downtown Rocks Summer Concert Series.

Program Details and Promotional Offers

The casinos are offering several tangible incentives tied to the At Par program. Guests who present valid Canadian identification can receive up to $500 in slot promotional play redeemable at Club One players clubs across the three properties. Participating bars – including Bar Canada at the D, Overhang at Circa and Bar Prohibition! at Golden Gate – are offering select beverages at par as well.

At the time of the initial announcement, the U.S. dollar traded at roughly $0.73 CAD, meaning the promotion effectively increases purchasing power for visitors paying in Canadian currency. Casino executives framed the initiative as a way to address both immediate price sensitivity and broader market headwinds: Las Vegas tourism authorities say Canadian visitation declined in 2025, and airline seat capacity from Canada to Las Vegas was reduced by about 30 percent, according to data circulated by local tourism officials.

An independent tourism analyst described the promotion as an understandable response to a changing international market. “Treating the Canadian dollar at parity simplifies purchasing decisions and reduces friction for visitors”, the analyst said. “It can be an effective short-term tactic to capitalize on pent-up demand, but sustaining arrivals will require improved airlift, coordinated marketing and a consistent calendar of attractions that appeal to repeat visitors.”

Data from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority show Canada has historically been Las Vegas’ largest international feeder market, accounting for a substantial share of overseas air travelers in the 2019-2024 period. But local officials have warned that capacity reductions and softer demand contributed to a roughly 20 percent drop in Canadian arrivals in the most recent reporting year.

Downtown operators say the At Par offer is intended to jump-start travel plans by lowering perceived costs at the point of sale. Whether the program will reverse broader declines depends in part on airline schedules, cross-border travel trends and the broader exchange-rate environment over the spring and summer months.

For now, the downtown properties are leaning into live entertainment and localized promotions to convert goodwill into bookings, with executives citing early results as justification to keep the program active through late August.
