FanDuel Taps Former National Council on Problem Gambling Exec to Lead RG Initiatives
FanDuel has used Responsible Gaming Education Month to announce the hiring of Keith Whyte, the former Executive Director of the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG), as its new responsible gaming strategic advisor. Whyte, who departed the NCPG in January after more than two decades at the organization, will play a central role in helping FanDuel strengthen and expand its responsible gambling strategy across the US.

Cory Fox, FanDuel's SVP of Public Policy and Sustainability, said the operator is committed to raising industry standards for responsible gaming and highlighted Whyte's expertise as a valuable addition to the team. According to Fox, his experience and subject matter knowledge will help strengthen the company's leadership in this field.
Whyte, for his part, noted that he has long regarded FanDuel as a proactive leader in responsible gaming and sees his new position as an opportunity to continue his advocacy on a broader platform.
Whyte is widely recognized as one of the most experienced voices in problem gambling prevention and treatment. During his 26 years at the NCPG, he oversaw national initiatives to expand awareness of gambling addiction and promoted support services for individuals at risk.

A Proven Track Record of RG Support
Prior to his tenure at the council, Whyte served as director of research at the American Gaming Association. More recently, he founded Safer Gambling Strategies LLC in January 2025 and joined the board of the Virginia Council on Problem Gambling two months later, further cementing his standing in the responsible gaming sector.
His appointment comes as FanDuel continues to invest heavily in tools and programs designed to enhance player protection. Earlier this year, Fox unveiled a new Real-Time Check-In feature at the SBC Summit Americas in Florida.
The tool uses machine learning to analyze deposit behavior and compares actual spending patterns to expected safe thresholds, allowing for more personalized monitoring of customer activity. This initiative followed the launch of FanDuel's My Spend dashboard in 2024, which provides players with detailed insights into their betting behavior to encourage more informed decision-making.
Whyte's addition to the company coincides with broader strategic moves within FanDuel's leadership team. In the last two months, the sportsbook has appointed Shailagh Murray, a former senior advisor to President Barack Obama, as SVP of Public Affairs, and Jonathan Nabavi, former head of policy and legislative affairs for the NFL, as VP of Federal Affairs.
FanDuel has also been expanding its business horizons beyond traditional sports betting. The company recently announced a partnership with CME Group, opening the possibility of offering event-based contracts linked to economic or sports outcomes. In addition, the operator has been increasing its emphasis on peer-to-peer fantasy-style prop games, signaling a diversification strategy alongside its work in responsible gambling.
