Roc Nation is Jay-Z’s entertainment company, and he’s recently discussed his bid for a casino to be in Times Square in New York City. Jay-Z is seeking one of three available casino licenses while partnering with SL Green and Caesars.

During an interview with City & State New York, Jay-Z provided a comment on his position in this saga.

“New York City is the entertainment capital of the world, so the idea of a world-class casino here makes perfect sense. I’ve always looked at opportunities that can shift culture while uplifting communities, and Caesars Palace Times Square is exactly that. Our vision is to build a destination that not only attracts visitors but also gives New Yorkers a place they’re proud to enjoy. A casino here doesn’t compete with Times Square – it complements it. We’re creating a hub that draws even more people into the neighborhood, generating new energy, new business, and new opportunities for everyone."

He added that the new casino would be “an extension of culture, an extension of the energy and action that makes New York the city it is.”

In addition to Jay-Z, Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez spoke with Billboard about the plan, mentioning that it would provide $250 million in community support.

While Jay-Z is reportedly looking to enter the casino business, there are rumors that he may be gearing up to release a new album, although that has been refuted.

As mentioned, there are three casino licenses up for grabs in what is referred to as “Downstate” New York. This requires a total financial commitment of at least $1 billion. The deadline for bids was in June, and the winners will likely be announced in late December 2025.
