New CEO for Australian Developer ReelPlay

The Australian casino games developer ReelPlay has announced the appointment of its former chief commercial officer David Johnson as the company’s new chief executive.

Johnson came to ReelPlay in 2018, at the same time as former CEO Scott Smith, after spending successful periods in senior roles with companies such as Cryptologic, NextGen Gaming, and NYX Gaming.

Smith, who has stepped down as CEO, will be remaining with ReelPlay in a board and advisory capacity overseeing the ReelPlay group studios. According to ReelPlay, the company has enjoyed significant growth since the arrival of both Johnson and Smith. The two of them initiated the transition of the business from Chance Interactive to ReelPlay and, along the way, reached a number of commercial milestones.

I’m delighted to be given the opportunity to continue to drive the business forward as CEO. With great credit to Scott, the founders and the team at ReelPlay HQ, the business is perfectly positioned to capitalise on the solid foundations we’ve placed over the last couple of years. We look forward to continuing to build on ReelPlay’s solid existing partnerships whilst focusing on expanding into new markets and verticals.

The developer’s games are best known for the Infinity Reels feature, which sees each spin make it possible to add a new reel, and each new reel increases the payout multiplier for all wins.
