North Las Vegas’ Beloved Poker Palace Casino Shutting Down
After 51 years of serving the local community, Poker Palace Casino in North Las Vegas is set to permanently close its doors on October 1, 2025. The property is shutting down to its agreed sale, as revealed in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) letter filed with state and gaming authorities.
LISTEN TO THIS ARTICLE:The closure will affect 126 employees across 36 different job roles, including dealers, porters, security officers, and other support staff. The first round of layoffs at the casino is scheduled to begin on September 30, with a possible extension of up to 14 days.
Since its opening in 1974, Poker Palace Casino has been a fixture in North Las Vegas, attracting patrons with its extensive gaming options and welcoming atmosphere. Located at 2757 N. Las Vegas Blvd., the casino's 25,900-square-foot gaming floor houses a variety of games, including slots, bingo, table games, sports betting, and poker.
While the establishment primarily emphasizes its casino games, visitors can also find a few fast-food joints for quick bites. These include Maddy's Paddy Café, a popular dining spot named after Marvin "Mickey" and Laura Coleman's grandson, Maddy, as well as Mickey’s Palace Snack for fast-casual bites.
William Hill operates a race and sportsbook within the venue, which accommodates approximately 60 guests.

Uncertain Future Ahead
Although the property is in the process of being sold, the new ownership has not been publicly disclosed. The plans of the prospective owner are also unclear. Given the site’s prime location and loyal customer base, they might choose to retain the casino’s structure and rebrand it, or renovate it to meet up with modern standards. They might also opt to demolish the current building and replace it with a new establishment.
In the coming days, the Poker Palace Casino will likely draw in more visitors as gamblers flock to the venue to savor the familiar atmosphere and gaming options for what may be the final time.
With this development, Poker Palace will soon join a growing list of older Las Vegas properties that have shut down or been rebranded, such as Royal Resort, whose demolition has been scheduled for the end of this month. Another is Tropicana Las Vegas, which was imploded in October 2024.
