Playtech and IGT Sign Cross-Licensing Agreement

Playtech, the global gambling leader, has announced a new cross-licensing deal with gaming software giant International Game Technology (IGT). The agreement will see Playtech further strengthen its presence in the United States by offering games with IGT’s US-patented mechanics.

At present, IGT holds the most extensive portfolio of slot game feature patents in the US. Under the agreement, Playtech will be able to offer American players games that incorporate any of the features patented within IGT’s US portfolio.

We are delighted to have reached an agreement to provide Playtech with access to the largest game feature patent portfolio in the US. Working in partnership with Playtech will help propel our collective innovation and growth, and further validates our significant IP portfolio.

After receiving a New Jersey license and having already gone live with bet365 across BetMGM’s gaming network earlier this year, Playtech marks yet another significant step towards strengthening its presence in the US. The company has expressed a vision to establish partnerships with gambling market leaders and leverage its scale to boost its expansion in North America. The deal with IGT is said to represent a significant step in expanding Playtech’s US market reach.
