Pro Football Ronnie Rivers Scores $515K Jackpot at Las Vegas Tables

A previously unknown NFL player hit it big this weekend in Las Vegas.

LA Rams running back Ronnie Rivers won a $514,837 progressive jackpot playing Three Card Poker at Caesars Palace on Saturday. Rivers, 24, is a rookie who was just promoted from the Rams practice squad to their active roster in November.

He says he was in Las Vegas with his mother, celebrating their birthdays.

The jackpot came by placing a $5 side bet on a hand of Three Card Poker and hitting a royal flush when combining his cards with the dealers.

Rivers tweeted out his appreciation and said he intends to buy a house with his winnings.

A lot of football players and their fans were in Las Vegas over the weekend for the NFL Pro Bowl, being hosted at Allegiant Stadium for the first time.

Rivers, however, with just 9 carries in 8 games for 21 yards, was not on the roster of NFC All-Pros.

Perhaps that turned out for the best. Players on the winning NFC team received $88,000. The losing team’s pay was just $44,000 per player.

The 2023 Pro Bowl in Las Vegas was the first one held without pads and tackling. It instead consisted of a flag football contest mixed in with some skills competitions. The NFC edged the AFC 35-33.

This was not the first time Rivers found success in Las Vegas. In 2018, he rushed for 212 yards with two touchdowns in the Las Vegas Bowl to lead No. 19 Fresno State to a 31-20 victory over Arizona State.
