ROGA Forms New Partnership with the Responsible Gaming Council
The Responsible Online Gaming Association (ROGA) has announced a new partnership with the Responsible Gaming Council (RGC) to introduce a certification program aimed at strengthening responsible gaming practices across the US. The initiative, revealed on Tuesday, marks a significant step in advancing player protection measures and promoting industry accountability among online gaming operators.

The certification program will create a structured, evidence-based framework designed to assess operator performance in critical areas such as self-exclusion systems, responsible marketing, employee training and player support tools. By focusing on independent validation, the program seeks to encourage operators to move beyond meeting only the minimum requirements set by regulators and instead adopt higher standards that emphasize long-term player well-being.

She emphasized that the collaboration with RGC provides a trusted, independent assessment mechanism that will serve as a benchmark for robust responsible gaming standards.
Shatley explained that the association's members are committed to continuous progress and that this program will demonstrate tangible actions supporting informed decision-making by players on the platforms they choose.
For more than four decades, the RGC has played a leading role in responsible gambling accreditation. Its work has supported both land-based casinos and online operators by providing tools to evaluate, monitor, and refine their strategies for responsible gaming. RGC's established expertise in the field will serve as a cornerstone in shaping and implementing the certification program under the partnership with ROGA.

Sarah McCarthy, the RGC's CEO, noted that working alongside ROGA sets a new benchmark for online gambling accountability. She highlighted that the upcoming program builds on years of evidence-based experience developed through RG Check, a standard widely recognized in the responsible gaming community.
McCarthy said the joint effort will foster a more transparent and player-focused industry, ensuring that safeguards evolve in line with changing player needs and technological developments.
The partnership between ROGA and RGC is not entirely new, as the organizations have previously collaborated on initiatives aimed at enhancing responsible gambling practices. Past joint efforts have included research into increasing player engagement with available responsible gaming tools, as well as public education campaigns such as the Know Your Play initiative, which targeted college audiences to raise awareness about safer gambling behaviors.
With the launch of this new project, ROGA and RGC will begin work on developing the certification framework. Once completed, the program will initially be applied to all ROGA member operators.
The organizations also plan to release additional information on how non-member operators can take part in the certification process, extending the reach of the program beyond the association's membership base.
