Vegas’ Biggest New Casino in Over Ten Years
The $4.3 billion Resorts World Las Vegas has finally opened its doors to the public. It is the first new resort built on the Strip in more than a decade, representing new hope for the area after the difficulties of the financial crisis and coronavirus pandemic.
It is the most expensive resort ever built in Las Vegas, and it occupies close to 88 acres. The site of the resort was once home to Stardust, which when it opened in 1958, was the largest hotel on the Strip. When the owner Boyd Gaming (NYSE: BYD) demolished Stardust in 2007, there were plans to build a new casino resort to replace it. However, the recession left the project dormant for years.
The Genting Group, the Malaysia based operator, then bought the property in 2013 for $350 million and set to work on building Resorts World.
The new property features three hotel collections from Hilton. The Las Vegas Hilton has 1,774 guest rooms with suites ranging from 400 to 3,300 square feet. The Conrad Las Vegas will have 1,496 contemporary guest rooms complete with a curated art program. The Crockfords Las Vegas, LXR Hotels & Resorts will have 236 ultra-luxury guest rooms and suites ranging from 550 to 7,000 square feet.
The casino itself will have 117,000 square feet of slots, table games, a poker room, high stakes areas, and a sportsbook. They will also be operating a loyalty program giving guests the chance to earn points when they dine, shop or play. In terms of shopping, there are two levels of boutique shops from luxury and lifestyle brands.
Other amenities include a 5.5-acre pool complex, making it the largest pool deck in Vegas, as well as a spa. There are more than 40 dining options, ranging from upmarket restaurants to fast service venues. It will also have a street food market with sixteen stalls offering cuisines from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and more.
The new resort also includes a concert and entertainment venue, and tickets are already available to see Celine Dion, Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Carrie Underwood. Visitors will also be able to enjoy the Zouk Nightclub and AYU Dayclub, where A-list DJs Zedd and Tiësto are set to perform.
