A bettor's hopes of securing a large payout have been dashed after an online error rendered his winning ticket invalid.

Kris Benton, a teacher at Fairfax County, had alleged that BetMGM voided his successful wagers, citing an "evident odds error" as the reason.

From Dream Come True to Nightmare

On Tuesday, August 1st, Kris Benton wagered a total of $3,000 on the Women's World Cup match between the Netherlands and Vietnam. Using the BetMGM mobile app, Benton created three distinct single-game parlays, each with odds of 66 to 1. He won $214,500.

However, Benton would not receive any of the winning amounts. Following the success of the betting ticket, Benton initiated a withdrawal request for $100,000, the maximum amount allowed in a single withdrawal on the platform.

Benton received an email from BetMGM confirming his withdrawal. However, a few hours later, the wagers were listed as canceled in his account. Subsequently, his withdrawal request was annulled, and his original wager amount was refunded into his account.

BetMGM Voids Wager over Inaccurate Odds

Later, Benton received an email from BetMGM's online gaming operations team, expressing their sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused and that there was an obvious error as the odds were unmistakably inaccurate.

The email read, "There was an issue that caused the corners market to have inflated the odds, but they were not supposed to be offered at that price. Therefore, we are not able to find out what the correct odds would have been, that is why the wager was voided."

This was going to be a life-changiх ng moment for us, and then in an instant, it was all taken away without any notification whatsoever. I was completely devastated. My wife and I had already started discussing what we were going to do with the money. They said because of their mistake they can do whatever they wanted to do with my account balance and on top of that, the mistake they claimed happened, they can't back that up with any evidence.
