Australian Lightning Box Games Bought by Scientific Games
Scientific Games Corporation (NASDAQ: SGMS) has announced that it has acquired the Australian slot developer Lightning Box Games. However, the terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
The acquisition of the Sydney-based developer comes as Scientific Games continues to strive towards its vision of becoming “a leading, cross-platform global game company,” a statement read.
The two companies already have a well-established partnership and many of Lightning Box Games’ titles have been a hit with players on Scientific Games’ OpenGaming platform in the US, its casino platform for gambling operators.

At present, Lightning Box Games’ titles are live with more than fifty operators across the US, Canada and Europe. This includes several of the industry’s biggest names such as William Hill, Betsson, LeoVegas, Unibet, Sky Bet, 888, FanDuel, BetMGM, Golden Nugget, and Rush Street. Some of its most popular titles include Redroo, Spartan Fire, and Piñata Bucks.
Peter Causley, the CEO and Co-founder of Lightning Box, described the acquisition as an “amazing opportunity” and “recognition” of the company’s efforts. He said that the deal has come at the perfect time to help Lightning Box move forward with its “ambitious product innovation plans.”
Causley added, “Having been an OpenGaming partner since its early days, we knew that Scientific Games had the capabilities to propel our games to new heights. We're now in a better position than ever to bring our robust pipeline of high-quality slots more effortlessly to our global online casino partners.”
