Casino Del Sol Sets November Opening Date for New Tucson Gaming Property
TUCSON, Ariz. – Casino Del Sol Vahi Taa’am will open in Tucson on Nov. 15, giving the Pascua Yaqui Tribe its third gaming property in Southern Arizona.
The opening adds a major casino development inside Tucson city limits and is expected to create about 500 jobs across gaming, hospitality, food service, security and administration. The property will be located at 1055 W. Grant Road near Interstate 10.
The 163,000-square-foot project is named Vahi Taa’am, which translates to “Three Suns” in Yoeme, the language of the Pascua Yaqui people. The name is meant to represent light and a promising future for the community, according to tribal officials.

New Tucson Casino Adds Gaming, Sportsbook and Jobs
Casino Del Sol Vahi Taa’am will include a 52,334-square-foot gaming floor with 924 slot machines, including 56 high-limit games. The property will also feature table games, seven bar-top gaming stations and a sportsbook offering wagering on major sports.
The casino is expected to bring nearly 500 new jobs to Tucson. Roles will span several departments, including gaming operations, food and beverage, hospitality, security and administration.
Amanda Sampson Lomayesva, interim CEO of Casino Del Sol, said the project reflects the tribe’s long-term vision for the area. “Casino Del Sol, Vahi Taaʼam is more than a new property, it is a declaration of what the Pascua Yaqui Tribe stands for: a future as bright as the three suns its name evokes”, she said.

Design Highlights Old Pascua Community Land
A 26-foot copper dome will serve as the centerpiece of the building and will be visible from I-10. Inside, a 24,000-square-foot mural by Tucson artist Joe Pagac will cover the interior dome ceiling, showing an Arizona desert sky with programmable lighting that shifts from midday to sunset.
Julian Hernandez, chairman of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe, said the location carries cultural meaning because the casino is built on Old Pascua Community land. “Every design choice, every partnership, every hire, all of it flows from the same source: our culture, our people, and our responsibility to the Tucson community we have called home for generations,” Hernandez said.
The property will include Old Pascua Grill, a 174-seat restaurant, along with Sewa Market, which brings together food concepts tied to the flagship Casino Del Sol property. Three bars will also operate at the site: OP Grill Bar, Center Bar and High Limit Bar.
Casino Del Sol Expands Southern Arizona Footprint
Casino Del Sol Vahi Taa’am joins Casino Del Sol Resort on West Valencia Road and Casino of the Sun as the tribe’s third gaming facility in Southern Arizona. Its Tucson location gives the operator a larger presence near I-10 and places the new casino closer to the city’s urban core.
The project also extends the tribe’s casino brand beyond its existing resort footprint. With slots, table games, a sportsbook, restaurants and a four-level parking structure with more than 1,200 spaces, the property is being positioned as both a gaming venue and a local entertainment destination.
The Nov. 15 opening will mark the next phase of Casino Del Sol’s expansion in Arizona. For Tucson, the launch brings a new casino property, hundreds of jobs and a high-profile tribal gaming development built around Old Pascua community ties.
