Churchill Downs Show Interest in Vigo County Casino Development

Proposal for the development of a casino resort in Vigo County has been submitted to the Indiana Gaming Commission by a number of interested developers, including Full House Resorts (NASDAQ: FLL), Premier Gaming Group, Hard Rock, and Churchill Downs Incorporated (NASDAQ: CHDN).

The proposals were submitted after the Indiana Gaming Commission invited parties to express their interest in obtaining an open casino license for Vigo County.

The regulator has not given any further information about the details of the bids, but Churchill Downs Inc gave details about their proposal.

They have ambitious plans for the Queen of Terre Haute resort which includes a luxury hotel and casino with an impressive 1000 slot machines offer along with various food and drink locations.

Churchill Downs have also estimated that their proposal would result in up to 1500 jobs, “We appreciate the local encouragement we’ve received as we’ve evaluated this opportunity,” added Carstanjen. “In the days ahead, we look forward to making our case to the Indiana Gaming Commission as to why our proposal to build the Queen of Terre Haute is in the best interest of the residents and businesses of Terre Haute, Vigo County, and the State of Indiana.”
