Kindred Group Brings Gamban to the US

The online gambling operator Kindred Group (STO: KIND-SDB), which is behind leading brands such as Unibet, has announced a partnership with Gamban to give its customers the option to block gambling sites in the US. This makes Kindred Group the first US operator to reach an agreement with the UK-based Gamban.

US customers of Unibet can now make use of an online gambling self-exclusion tool that gives them the ability to block access to online gambling websites from individual devices voluntarily. Kindred and Gamban already work together in a number of other regions and they have been collaborating since 2017 in Australia and Europe.

The co-founder of Gamban, Jack Symons, commented on the partnership saying, “We’re incredibly excited to partner with Unibet and offer our blocking software in the US – it’s a huge step forward for the industry.”

Symons went on to point out that at present there is no regulatory pressure in the States for gambling operators to offer blocking software. As such, he believes that this is a fantastic move forward by Unibet.

The Head of Responsible Gambling and Research at Kindred Group, Maris Catania said that the company is excited to bring the tools to Unibet’s players in New Jersey, Indiana and Pennsylvania, and said that they will also be available in Iowa and Illinois if the company’s ongoing license applications are successful. She also said that bringing European knowledge and responsible gambling practices to the US was one of the company’s goals.

Kindred Group has a goal of zero revenue from harmful gambling by 2023 and this latest move is certainly a step towards achieving that. It recently became the first gambling operator to report what share of its revenue is the result of harmful gambling and now issues reports on this every quarter.
