Greentube Enters Canadian Market

Greentube, Novomatic’s interactive division, has gone live in the Canadian market for the first time thanks to a new partnership with Scientific Games (NASDAQ: SGMS) and the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC).

The partnership means that many of Greentube’s popular games, such as Lucky Lady’s charm, Sizzling Hot and Book of Ra, will become available to Canadian players. The deal comes as Canada continues to consider the legalization of single-event betting and online gambling in separate provinces.

The games will initially go live in British Columbia and Manitoba and Greentube is hoping to use the partnership as a basis to expand its presence in the North American market over the course of the next year.

The launch in Canada with BCLC is very important for us as BCLC is the first operator to launch our content in the market. Gambling in Canada has been undergoing significant changes in recent times. Earlier this year, legislators attempted to pass Bill C-281, which was designed to legalize single-event sports betting and more away from the more restrictive pari-mutuel format. The gambling industry is clearly anticipating further developments and it is known that Nova Scotia and Alberta are actively working to legalize online gambling in their respective provinces. In preparation, Entain (LON: ENT) has launched research into consumer practices in Canada, suggesting that the company believes the market holds significant potential.
