Awarded by the region's gambling regulator, the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA), the license allows Konami Gaming to provide its casino games and technology to licensed operators in the UAE's future commercial gaming market.

Competition is already heating up as Konami adds to the number of developers approved in the UAE, including IGT, Novomatic, Aristocrat, and Scientific Games. In the previous week, Light & Wonder also received a similar license in the jurisdiction.

Konami's product portfolio includes Class III RNG slot machines, online casino games, and its Synkros casino management system, designed to streamline casino operations and enhance efficiency. The Japan-based company's entertainment and digital market services span the Asia-Pacific, European, and North American regions and will look to establish its presence in the UAE's emerging gaming industry.

Since Konami Gaming's inception, our global growth has been achieved with an unwavering commitment to compliance. As the United Arab Emirates expands its economy to the regulated commercial gaming space, Konami is dedicated to supporting this market with the same integrity, innovation and excellence we bring to all 431 gaming jurisdictions we serve worldwide.

Current Market Landscape

If the UAE gaming market launches in its current state, Wynn Resorts would be the sole client for Konami and other approved gaming suppliers, as it's the only operator currently licensed to run a land-based casino in the jurisdiction.

Construction has begun on Wynn Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah, the Arab world's first integrated gaming resort. The $5 billion project, which will feature 1,542 luxurious rooms and suites, is expected to open in the first quarter of 2027. While MGM Resorts has shown interest in the market, it is yet to receive a license from the GCGRA.

It is also worth noting that online gambling remains unlicensed in the UAE despite the regulatory progress, so suppliers can only deliver their land-based gaming products in the region. With interests in online casinos and sports betting growing steadily, 2025 could be the year that the UAE legitimizes these activities.
