Although no decisions have been made and no franchises awarded, several investment groups are positioning themselves as serious contenders for ownership, particularly in Las Vegas.
Silver highlighted the city's growing connection with the NBA, noting that Las Vegas has long hosted the NBA Summer League and is now a central venue for the newly established NBA Cup. He referred to Las Vegas as being similar to a "31st franchise in spirit." The city's involvement in the NBA calendar has helped elevate its visibility as a potential market for a future team.

Vegas NBA Support on the Rise
Several entities have expressed interest in developing arena infrastructure to support a future NBA franchise in Las Vegas. Notable among them are the Oak View Group, responsible for Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, and the Las Vegas-based LVXP, both of which are actively exploring opportunities for large-scale venue construction aligned with professional sports needs.
Las Vegas' growing sports landscape was also reinforced by recent developments in Major League Baseball. In May, Clark County commissioners approved the establishment of a Sports and Entertainment Improvement District to help fund a proposed $1.75 billion stadium that will serve as the future home of the Oakland Athletics.
The financing mechanism is expected to generate $120 million in tax revenue to repay county-issued bonds. The stadium, which will have a seating capacity of 33,000, will occupy nine acres of the Tropicana property, part of a larger 35-acre parcel managed by Bally's Corporation and owned by GLPI.
The financing structure includes up to $380 million in public funds. Once the bonds are paid off, the district will be dissolved and tax collections will revert to regular county and state allocations. This project adds to the ongoing transformation of Las Vegas into a premier hub for professional sports, complementing existing teams in the NFL, NHL and WNBA.
