UK Gambling Commission to Answer Criticism

It has been announced by the Parliamentary All-Party Betting and Gaming Group that there will be an official inquiry into the competence of the UK Gambling Regulator.

The inquiry was announced by an official press release in relation to the Prime Minister’s year-long investigation into the UK’s iGaming industry.

It is expected that the inquiry will be concluded by the end of 2021, with results being released in a white paper.

This independent review has been brought about because, in the view of the Parliamentary All-Party Betting and Gaming Group, there are still many outstanding questions regarding the regulator’s approach and actions.

It has also been claimed that they have been acting in a way that is deemed to be unacceptable and that operators are afraid of raising issues with them in case they react in a negative manner.

I believe it is essential that the key player in our industry is challenged over its actions. For a number of years, industry members have come to us and complained about the activities of the Gambling Commission, but they have been too scared to go public with their concerns. As they have no formal method of complaint apart from to the Gambling Commission itself, we feel it is our duty to provide a conduit for legitimate criticism of the regulator.
