The casino confirmed on Friday that Shrine Nightclub and Red Lantern, both fixtures of the property for nearly two decades, have permanently shut their doors. The decision marks the end of an era for the resort's nightlife but is part of a broader plan to introduce new experiences to guests.

Jason Guyot, President and CEO of Foxwoods Resort Casino, said the new Poker Room demonstrates the property's focus on energy, evolution and guest-centered innovation. He emphasized that the space is intended to provide players with comfort, pace, and competition, reinforcing Foxwoods' reputation as a leading gaming destination.
Foxwoods noted that the poker room was designed with modern amenities to align with the expectations of today's poker players. Features include automated sign-up kiosks to streamline entry, 37 high-definition televisions broadcasting sports and poker events, and on-site DraftKings Sportsbook kiosks. These additions are meant to create a versatile space that blends gaming with broader entertainment.

Bryan Hayes, SVP of Gaming Operations, highlighted that poker players demand a high level of technology and convenience, and the resort aimed to deliver through the design of the new facility. He characterized the poker room as the next chapter for poker on the East Coast, combining enhanced amenities with a focus on innovation.
The poker room benefits from its integration into Foxwoods' recently renovated hotel within The Fox Tower. Guests have convenient access to restaurants, nightlife, and parking, as well as other activities throughout the resort. The casino emphasized that the space is not only about gaming but also about providing a comprehensive guest experience tied to the wider resort environment.
Operating hours for the new poker room are from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 4 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Foxwoods stated that the extended hours are designed to accommodate both casual and competitive players, ensuring flexibility for a wide range of visitors.
