Drugs and Gambling Machines Seized in Andrews Raid

ANDREWS, S.C. – Three people have been arrested after an illegal gambling investigation in Georgetown County.

Deputies also seized drugs, firearms and six illegal video poker machines from a property in Andrews.

The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) carried out a search warrant at a residence on West Cottonwood Street in Andrews on 8 June.

Authorities said the property was being used for illegal gambling.

Drugs, Weapons and Gambling Machines Seized

According to investigators, officers recovered six illegal video poker machines along with significant quantities of controlled substances. The seizure included 56 grams of cocaine, 18 grams of crack cocaine, 304 grams of marijuana, 6.5 grams of fentanyl, five grams of methamphetamine and 22 grams of MDMA.

Agents also recovered three firearms during the operation. The investigation was conducted jointly by the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office Narcotics and Vice Unit and SLED's Alcohol Enforcement Unit.

Multiple Charges Filed

Glen Williams, 39, of Andrews faces numerous charges, including trafficking in fentanyl, trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in methamphetamine and cocaine base, distribution of methamphetamine, possession of drugs with intent to distribute, six counts of unlawful possession of a slot or vending machine, unlawful games and betting, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Robert McDonald Jr., 39, was charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute cocaine and failure to appear. Silas McGill, 63, of Andrews was charged with manufacturing and distributing cocaine.

Authorities also said Kevin Chandler, 46, of Georgetown, is wanted on an extradition warrant from Ohio.

Investigation Highlights Gambling Enforcement Efforts

Sheriff Carter Weaver said the case demonstrated the value of cooperation between state and local law enforcement agencies. “This is a great example of state and local law enforcement collaborating together to ensure the safety of the citizens within the Town of Andrews”, Weaver said.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue examining evidence seized from the property.
