GambleAware's New Free App Offers Personalized Support
In response to growing concerns about gambling harm, GambleAware has introduced a personalized app designed to help individuals, particularly young people, cut back or quit gambling altogether.

Developed in collaboration with the Charity's Lived-in Experience Council, the GambleAware Support Tool offers free, personalized, and anonymous support. It also provides a range of proven tools, customized to meet the unique needs of each user.
With the app, users can set personalized goals for reduction or cessation, monitor their behavior, and access a library of supportive resources, including podcasts, self-help tools, and educational content.
Additionally, the app provides users with expert guidance based on the Lower Risk Gambling Guidelines (LRGG), becoming the first platform in the UK to integrate the globally acclaimed framework, which advises individuals to gamble no more than 1% of their monthly income, spend no more than four days per month on gambling, and limit themselves to just one or two types of gambling activities during that time.
When more specialized help is needed, the app connects users to formal support services, such as GambleAware's service finder.
Whether individuals want to reduce, manage or stay gamble-free, the GambleAware Support Tool is here every step of your journey. The digital age means we essentially have a casino in our pocket, and we know increased accessibility leads to increased participation and therefore increased risk of harm. The GambleAware Support Tool app is designed to give people a timely insight into their gambling, with the aim of supporting their journey to reducing or quitting their activity.

According to the latest 2024 Treatment and Support Survey, young adults aged 18-24 are twice as likely to consider quitting or reducing their gambling habits, with 29% expressing this desire compared to the national average of 15%.
A recent research report also reveals that 67% of surveyed gamblers believe that problem gambling still carries a stigma in society.
This is reflected in the 28% of gamblers who hid their gaming habits from family and loved ones due to feelings of shame and embarrassment about seeking help.
The app allows individuals struggling with problem gambling to take the first step towards recovery without fear of stigma or judgment.
I would be gambling on the computer from six in the evening until six in the morning and I just was not sleeping. It's positive being able to monitor your progress yourself and to see how well you're doing in reducing or quitting your gambling if you're goal orientated. To see 'I've done this many days now' or 'I've saved this much money', I think it really does give a variety of choice in your recovery.
