Japan Fuji TV Executive Arrested for Online Gambling
An employee of Fuji Television Network has been arrested by Tokyo's Metropolitan Police Department for allegedly gambling on an online casino website.

According to the MPD, Yoshitaka Suzuki, Fuji TV's variety show division manager, allegedly accessed Eldoah Casino, an overseas online gambling site, from Japan via smartphone to repeatedly play illegal games like baccarat between September 22, 2024, and May 13, 2025.
The 44-year-old manager reportedly admitted to the allegations, stating he was introduced to online gambling by a senior colleague about five years ago. He also said that he believed his online gambling activities would remain undiscovered and never thought he'd get caught.
The police said that Suzuki lied to his company's internal investigation about online casinos and continued to gamble online, spending around ¥100 million ($679,000) and losing around ¥24 million ($162,960).
In a statement, Fuji TV pledged to cooperate fully with the investigation and take steps to prevent future occurrences.

New Bill Targets Online Gambling Ads
Japan has recently intensified its crackdown against online gambling in its jurisdiction after a string of celebrity betting scandals and calls from advocacy groups, and stakeholders thrust the issue into the spotlight.
The activities of law enforcement are more boosted by a new bill passed in the Upper House that aims to strengthen regulations for illegal online gaming advertising.
Under the revised law, operating or running online casino sites and apps in Japan is strictly prohibited. The ban will also extend to online ads and social media posts that direct users to virtual casino sites. The legislation is expected to be enacted by the end of this month and will be implemented three months later.
