A teenager has been apprehended for allegedly shooting a man to death during a robbery gone wrong in his hotel room at the Luxor.

The arrest report shows that the incident occurred on June 29 when Emma Kusak reportedly alerted police that she had shot someone on the Luxor's 12th floor and then fled the scene. Upon arrival, the police discovered Charlie Satrustegui dead with two gunshot wounds to the head.

When interviewed by the police, Kusak stated that she had met Satrustegui via the Bumble dating app about two months earlier. They exchanged phone numbers, established a friendship, and corresponded through roughly 30 text messages over that period.

Pair Arranged to Meet During Visit from California

Satrustegui invited Kusak to spend time with him on June 28 as he was visiting Las Vegas from California. The report indicates they bought liquor from Albertsons at 4 p.m. before heading to Satrustegui’s Luxor hotel room. According to Kusak, they drank approximately eight shots of vodka, and Satrustegui showed her his handgun, explaining that he enjoyed hunting and shooting. The firearm was placed in the bedside drawer. Kusak told the authorities they fell asleep around 1 a.m.

It says in the arrest report that Satrustegui woke Kusak at 3 a.m., asking her to leave as her incessant coughing was disrupting his sleep. Unable to get in touch with friends for a ride and reluctant to contact her parents, Kusak began to feel desperate.

Handgun Taken from Nightstand

She confessed to police that she took Satrustegui’s gun with the intent to rob him of his wallet, three mobile phones, and car keys. She reportedly ordered him to “give her his shit”. Satrustegui handed over his keys but then made a move for the gun, at which point Kusak claimed she shot him. After he fell, she stole the phones and $300 from his wallet before driving off.

Kusak reportedly drove Satrustegui’s car a short distance away, leaving the wallet, phones, and keys inside. She then hailed an Uber to Wingstop, near Rainbow Boulevard and Charleston Boulevard, and called the police, stating her readiness to surrender. Upon arrest, Kusak allegedly told officers, “I didn’t mean to do it.”

Kusak is now facing charges of open murder, robbery, and grand larceny and will appear in court on August 1.
