Clarion Gaming Chose Barcelona for Next ICE Events Host
LISTEN TO THIS ARTICLE:After an extensive six-month competitive bid process involving major cities like London, Madrid, and Paris, Clarion Gaming has announced that Barcelona has been selected as the host city partner for the prestigious ICE and iGB Affiliate events.
This decision was backed by the ICE Advisory Board, a diverse group representing prominent international brands in both online and land-based gaming. The contract, covering the period from 2025 to 2029, will see Barcelona host the first editions of ICE and iGB Affiliate at the remarkable Fira de Barcelona, boasting a capacity of 240,000 square meters, from January 20 to January 22, 2025.
The selection process between the potential ICE venues was a meticulous affair, evaluating over 30 variables, conducting venue visits, city presentations, and engaging in detailed negotiations.
An independent international agency, well-versed in the events and location search space, took charge of this process, considering all aspects of attending, exhibiting, and organizing the events, along with long-term strategic factors impacting their development.
Barcelona’s Infinite Potential
Alex Pratt, the Managing Director at Clarion Gaming, expressed his gratitude to the global industry stakeholders and the shortlisted cities for their contributions and professional bids. Pratt also extended his appreciation to the independent agency for their meticulous oversight of each stage of the process. He emphasized that the decision was customer-led, allowing them to identify the city that best suited their needs, and Barcelona emerged as the ideal strategic partner for the future.
The success of Barcelona's bid can be attributed to several key factors. The city's world-class facilities, outstanding hospitality infrastructure, logistics, and potential for a significant return on investment for customers played pivotal roles. The partnership forged between the international industry, Fira de Barcelona, and public and private stakeholders in Barcelona, Catalonia, and Spain, promises to create a lasting legacy for the future.
London as a Key Location
Additionally, as part of the comprehensive review, Clarion Gaming announced the relocation of their iGB Live event from Amsterdam to London in 2025. The decision was made after 12 successful years at ExCeL London, which provided an ideal environment for ICE and iGB Affiliate to flourish. Clarion Gaming remains committed to ExCeL London and looks forward to bringing iGB Live to the city in July 2025, ensuring a perfect backdrop for the event's future growth in a key gaming territory.
ICE London and iGB Affiliate events will be exclusive major gatherings in Barcelona over the January dateline, providing exhibitors and attendees with a unique venue and city experience. Clarion Gaming has already reserved a total of 40,000 hotel nights during ICE week 2025 to accommodate the influx of participants.
