BHA Promotes Alison Enticknap to New Strategic Role

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has announced the promotion of Alison Enticknap, Interim Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs, to the newly created role of Director of Strategy and Change.

The appointment comes recently after the BHA, Racecourse Association (RCA), and Thoroughbred Group (TG) agreed to work together on developing a new industry strategy.

The BHA is creating a new Strategy and Change department after discussions related to the sport’s governance structures and a structural review.

The creation of the new Strategy and Change department will be crucial for our sport’s agreed plans to develop a new industry strategy. I am delighted that we have appointed Alison to lead this department. Her proven leadership ability and capacity to build relationships and drive change will be integral to the success of this work.

Enticknap is considered the ‘best man for the role because of the wealth of experience she has acquired in the industry and the excellent way she has handled her previous roles. She joined the BHA in 2018 as Head of Stakeholder and Internal Engagement and most recently worked as the Interim Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs since Autumn 2021.

Furthermore, she has held several roles across various departments, including public affairs, communications, and program management at top firms like Virgin Atlantic, Powergen, T-Mobile, the RSPB, and the Natural History Museum.

I see this role as a huge opportunity for racing to work together to address our biggest challenges and to seize important opportunities. The prize is enormous if we can collaborate as an industry and get this right. I look forward to working across racing, with its wealth of knowledge and expertise, and helping to secure the outcome we all want – a thriving and sustainable sport.
