Flutter Collaborates with Industry Leaders to Launch Quebec Online Gaming Coalition

In collaboration with other industry leaders, Flutter has launched the Quebec Online Gaming Coalition (QOGC), an organization dedicated to working closely with the Québec government and local stakeholders to develop a robust regulatory framework for the online gaming industry.
The primary objective of the QOGC is to address mounting concerns related to consumer safety, responsible gaming practices, advertising, and the potential for increased government revenues through a new licensing system for qualified private operators.
To fulfill its mission, Flutter will collaborate with coalition members to advocate for the establishment of an independent regulatory body in Québec. This regulatory body would be responsible for implementing standardized controls on responsible gaming, specifically targeting the protection of vulnerable and underage players.
One of the key initiatives undertaken by the QOGC is its commitment to contribute to the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Société et Culture. By supporting this research fund, the coalition aims to facilitate in-depth studies on gaming behaviors and explore effective strategies for safeguarding players within the province. This emphasis on research underscores the QOGC's dedication to providing a safe and responsible gaming experience for all Québec residents.
Drawing inspiration from the successful model implemented in Ontario, the QOGC seeks to emulate Ontario's online gaming regulation approach. This approach involved collaborative efforts between iGaming Ontario (IGO), the Government of Ontario, and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).
Private online gaming operators were required to obtain licenses to access the Ontarian market, resulting in FanDuel and PokerStars successfully securing licenses to launch mobile gaming in Ontario in 2022.
