British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) has announced the appointment of Natasha Questel as its new Chief Social Purpose Officer and Vice President of Marketing.

Before joining BCLC, Questel had gathered a wealth of experience working across various companies in the non-profit and consumer-packaged goods sectors.

She recently held the position of CEO at One Girl Can, a non-profit committed to combating poverty and gender inequality for vulnerable girls. She has also served as the President of the Vancouver-based sustainable food company Happy Planet Foods. Additionally, Questel dedicated her time as both board chair and active board member at Basket Brigade Canada. She also serves as a board member for Aisle, a B Corp period-care brand with a core focus on sustainability and inclusivity.

Questel will resume her new position at BCLC by January 22.

As BCLC continues to mature as a social purpose company working to generate wins for the greater good, it’s integral that we continue to embed our ‘reason for being’ into all that we do. We are thrilled to welcome Natasha to BCLC, where I know that her passion for making a difference, combined with her demonstrated business success, will enable us to innovate and iterate on how we can further improve our business – and influence others to do the same – for the betterment of society.

Gambling Harm Research Funding

Established in 1985, the BCLC is solely responsible for operating and managing legal gambling activities in the Canadian province of British Columbia.

Last December, the organization, in collaboration with the British Columbia government, announced an additional investment of CA$1.4 million to support gambling-related harm research in the province.

The effort was meant to aid the ongoing research at the University of British Columbia (UBC) Centre for Gambling Research, a facility that has received funding from both the government and BCLC since its establishment.
