Excitement among People

She further remarked that there's a lot of excitement among people as they wonder who the winner will be. However, everyone is hoping for the same thing – that it’s someone from the community.

Wairoa is a town and territorial authority district in New Zealand's North Island. It is the largest town in the district of Wairoa and is one of three towns in New Zealand, the others being Kawerau and Opotiki, where Māori outnumber other ethnicities. The town was devastated by Cyclone Gabrielle in February, which resulted in the displacement of numerous residents from their homes and necessitated a massive cleanup effort afterward.

While the holder of the $10.3m ticket is still unknown, there are chances that it could be anyone from another town or even state since a significant number of individuals did visit the town and purchased Lotto tickets at the supermarket. However, a local winning the prize would bring much-needed joy to a town that has recently endured a life-changing hazard. While the prospect could bring financial benefits, it would definitely uplift community spirits and foster a sense of hope and resilience for the entire town.

The Hawke’s Bay winner is the eleventh player to win millions from Powerball in 2023. The win comes weeks after a couple from Paraparaumu claimed a $37.125 million Powerball prize.
