Betsson Announce Their Flagship Brand Goes Live in Italy

Betsson Group has launched its flagship Betsson brand in Italy, further strengthening its presence in the European gambling market. The group has been operating its StarCasinò brand in the country for more than a decade and will continue to run it alongside the newly unveiled Betsson brand.

Italian bettors will be able to access a range of casino titles like slots, table games, and live casino products on the new platform. They can also bet on their favorite sports games. To improve its exposure in the Italian market, Betsson has reportedly secured a front-of-shirt sponsorship agreement with Inter. The deal is expected to generate $32.6m annually over the next five years.

Betsson Expands in Europe

The development aligns with Betsson’s ongoing efforts to broaden its footprint across Europe. In February, the operator improved its presence in the European market through the acquisition of Holland Gaming Technology, a licensed gaming operator in the Netherlands, and Holland Power Gaming, a Dutch game studio.

However, the company has recently met a setback in Finland, with the National Police Board (NPB) blacklisting its 13 online casinos.

The NPB made the decision after a court ruling last month determined that Betsson’s subsidiary BML Group had breached the Finnish Lotteries Act by engaging in targeted marketing and advertising towards Finnish customers. The court subsequently fined the operator €2.4 million.
