Jay-Z to Headline Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show in February 2027
INGLEWOOD, Calif. – Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl LXI halftime show at SoFi Stadium on February 14, 2027, the NFL confirmed. The announcement ends weeks of speculation after his implied probability of headlining reached 92% on Kalshi.
The NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation announced the selection during Monday Night Football on October 26. It will be the rapper’s first appearance as a Super Bowl halftime performer, despite his central role in producing the event through Roc Nation since 2019.
Jay-Z Confirmed for Super Bowl 2027 Halftime Show
Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, became involved in the NFL’s halftime show through Roc Nation’s partnership with the league in 2019. His company will executive produce the 2027 performance, with Hamish Hamilton serving as director.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said he had asked Jay-Z to perform himself when the league first reached its agreement with Roc Nation. The 25-time Grammy winner described the upcoming performance as a milestone following three decades in music.
The announcement follows Jay-Z’s recent concert series celebrating the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt, and the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint. The tour included sold-out performances in New York, London and Paris, concluding with two shows at SoFi Stadium on October 23 and 24.
Super Bowl LXI will air on ESPN and ABC, with streaming available through Disney+ and NFL+. The game marks the second time SoFi Stadium has hosted the Super Bowl, following Super Bowl LVI in 2022.
Will Beyoncé Join Jay-Z at the Super Bowl Halftime Show?
Although Jay-Z has been confirmed as the headliner for the Super Bowl 2027 halftime show, the NFL has not announced any guest artists. Speculation has centered on Beyoncé, Rihanna and other musicians who have collaborated with him throughout his career.
Beyoncé, Jay-Z’s wife, previously headlined the 2013 Super Bowl halftime show and returned as a guest performer alongside Coldplay and Bruno Mars in 2016. Rihanna headlined the event in 2023 and has collaborated with Jay-Z on several recordings.
Jay-Z’s recent anniversary concerts featured appearances by Beyoncé, Eminem, Nas and several other artists. His final shows at SoFi Stadium included performances with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, while his daughter Blue Ivy Carter appeared on piano during the October 23 concert.
However, none of these appearances confirms who might join Jay-Z at Super Bowl LXI. The NFL has not disclosed any plans for additional performers or released details about the show’s setlist.
Jay-Z’s Super Bowl Odds Reached 92% Before NFL Announcement
Before the NFL confirmed Jay-Z’s appearance, his name had featured prominently in prediction markets covering potential Super Bowl LXI performers. According to Kalshi’s October 20 report, his implied probability of headlining had climbed to 92% following media reports suggesting he would perform.
Earlier market activity had placed Jay-Z close to Miley Cyrus, another artist discussed as a potential headliner. Kalshi also listed Beyoncé at 64%, Rihanna at 45% and Pharrell Williams at 35% as possible guest performers in its October 20 update.
Those figures reflected market expectations at the time rather than confirmed decisions by the NFL or the artists involved. The rapid change in prices illustrates how entertainment-related event contracts can respond to media reports, an increasingly visible aspect of the wider prediction markets industry.
The previous Super Bowl halftime show, headlined by Bad Bunny in February 2026, averaged 128.2 million viewers during its 15-minute broadcast window, according to Nielsen. The figure demonstrates the scale of the audience Jay-Z could reach when he takes the stage next year.
With the headliner now confirmed, attention turns to potential guest artists, the setlist and the production of the show. Further details have not yet been announced ahead of Super Bowl LXI on February 14, 2027.
