Sisal Wins 8-Year Deal to Manage Sports Betting in Morocco

Flutter Entertainment subsidiary, Sisal announces it has won the rights to manage sports betting in Morocco put out to tender by La Marocaine des Jeux et des Sports (MDJS).

MDJS is the state-owned brand that oversees the national lottery and other gambling operations throughout Morocco. Under the terms of the successful bid, Sisal has been awarded an 8-year contract to run all sports betting in Morocco, which starts in 2024, and also has the option of a 2-year extension.

This agreement increases Sisal's footprint in the country as it has also had the rights to manage the national lottery in Morocco since 2018. Sisal believes operating the national lottery and sports betting in Morocco will result in the company achieving certain synergies.

Flutter completed its takeover of Sisal last year, and Sisal has stated that it believes it will be able to use its parent company's Flutter Edge and Risk & Trading technologies in this new agreement to run sports betting in Morocco.

Flutter will see its footprint in the African region increase significantly through this partnership. As well as increased growth in Morocco, the gaming operator also has a greater presence in Tunisia, having been awarded another operating contract.
