Mohegan, the tribal gaming company, has announced that its management of Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City will finish by the end of 2024.

The Mohegan has been involved with Resorts Casino for more than a decade when it partnered with the Bailey and Jerome families to take up its management role.

We’re extremely proud of our relationship with Resorts Casino Hotel and what we have helped accomplish. We want to express our deepest gratitude to our Resorts team members, guests and the Atlantic City community for their support and dedication throughout our tenure as manager.

First Native American-Operated Casino in Atlantic City

In 2012 Mohegan acquired 10% of the Resorts Casino Hotel and partnered with the ownership. Mohegan took over management of the venue and the gambling company has played a prominent role in the gambling sector in Atlantic City since it began operating the Resorts Casino Hotel.

Senior leadership at Resorts Casino said Mohegan had achieved much during their tenure of running the casino, playing a key role in the growth and history of the resort over the past decade. Resorts was one of the first Native American-operated land-based casinos and entertainment venues in Atlantic City.

Mohegan has expressed that it will still retain a 10% ownership interest in the casino resort when its management spell ends at the end of the year.

Mohegan has been a valuable partner, and we are grateful for their contribution to our success. We entered into a management agreement with Mohegan at a time when Resorts faced many operational, economic and market challenges. Mohegan brought stability and direction to Resorts by helping to assemble a stellar management team that will remain in place. We are happy that, with Mohegan’s help, Resorts has reached a point where it is able to operate independently.
