Overland Park Man Charged in Fatal Bally’s Casino Shooting
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Prosecutors have charged an Overland Park man with murder following a fatal shooting at Bally’s Casino in Missouri last month.
LISTEN TO THIS ARTICLE:Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson announced that 25-year-old Grant Lubin has been charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action. The charges stem from a shooting that took place in the casino’s parking garage on May 25 and resulted in the death of 45-year-old Richard Miller.

Surveillance Video Captured Events Before Shooting
According to court documents, surveillance footage showed Miller and two other individuals leaving the casino when they crossed paths with Lubin and two companions who were entering the property.
Investigators said a verbal confrontation began between the two groups before Lubin allegedly ran to a nearby vehicle and retrieved a firearm. Court records state that Lubin returned to the scene with the gun concealed in the front of his trousers while the argument continued.
Authorities allege the dispute escalated into a physical altercation involving members of both groups. According to court filings, Miller intervened during the fight before Lubin allegedly pulled out the firearm and pointed it at Miller and another individual.
Prosecutors say Miller then turned and began walking toward his vehicle. At that point, Lubin allegedly fired a shot that struck him. Emergency responders attended the scene, but Miller later died from his injuries.

Bond Set at $100,000
A Jackson County judge has set Lubin’s bond at $100,000. The case remains pending, and prosecutors have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding the confrontation.
The shooting occurred at Bally’s Casino, one of the gaming venues operating in the Kansas City area. Investigators relied on surveillance footage and witness accounts as part of the charging decision announced this week.
