PointsBet Enables Lightning Bets Feature on Its PointsBet App

PointsBet, the bookmaker and online gaming operator, announced that the Lightning Bets feature was enabled on its PointsBet Sportsbook App.

The Lightning Bets feature was available last Sunday during the week 5 round of NFL games played. PointsBet reported this led to NFL Lightning Bets being the most popular sport for live betting and the third-highest revenue for the day overall.

Live betting during sports games is popular with sports bettors, and this is backed up by a 184% increase in unique players using the sportsbook app last weekend. Also, the PointsBet handle saw an increase of 108% with the NFL Lightning Bets option enabled.

Another change to the PointsBet Sportsbook app came recently with the addition of PointsBet+ its new content hub.

PointsBet states its mission in the North American sports market is to disrupt the status quo, and it sees live-in-game betting on sports as the key to this strategy.

Currently, players using the PointsBet Sportsbook app can enjoy a wager during the game on sports in the NFL, NBA, and college basketball events. The online operator plans to expand the sports covered by the Lightning Bets feature in the future.

Live, in-game betting is not only the future of the American sports market, but it's what the sports bettor wants right now. We recognize that, and we've upped our investment in our product. Lightning bets are a continued development in our strategy to own the future of sports betting. Just this week at the 2022 World Congress of Sport, NBA Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum predicted that live betting will soon rise to over 70% of all bets placed.
