Primm Valley Casino Reopens 17 Days After Terrible’s Takeover

PRIMM, Nev.: Primm Valley Casino will reopen at noon Wednesday, 17 days after Terrible’s took over the Nevada border property. The reopening restores casino and hotel operations following a management transition that prevented the resort from remaining closed.

The property will return with 422 gaming machines, 250 hotel rooms, a William Hill sportsbook, a sports bar and a 24-hour quick-service food outlet. Terrible’s said the reopening will follow brief remarks from company executives and Cory Clemetson, president of Primm South Real Estate Company and grandson of Primm founder Ernie Primm.

Casino Returns After Rapid Management Transition

Terrible’s took over operations of Primm Valley Casino, Buffalo Bill’s Casino and Whiskey Pete’s Casino on July 5. Primm Valley will become the first casino to reopen following the transfer from Affinity Gaming and Z Capital.

The reopening comes after Terrible’s completed the Primm management transition, retaining about 300 employees and keeping company-managed worker housing open. Staff from Primm Valley and other Terrible’s properties prepared the casino and hotel for the July 22 return.

Former operator Affinity Gaming announced in May that the Primm properties would close around the July 4 holiday. The decision placed hundreds of jobs at risk before Terrible’s and members of the Primm family reached an agreement to continue operating the Nevada-California border properties.

Gaming, Hotel and Sportsbook Operations Resume

Primm Valley will initially reopen with a smaller group of operating amenities rather than every part of the resort. The available facilities will include the casino floor, hotel rooms, sportsbook, sports bar and round-the-clock food service.

Terrible’s will not charge resort fees at the reopened hotel. Returning customers will also have their previously earned rewards levels matched under the new operator’s loyalty program.

The company plans to introduce new promotions and rewards when the doors reopen. Those offers are secondary to the broader operational development, which returns full-time casino activity to a community that had faced losing its remaining regularly operating gaming property.

Additional Dining Options Under Development

Work is underway on a coffee bar, a 24-hour casual dining café and a steakhouse. Terrible’s has not provided opening dates for those venues, meaning the initial reopening will take place before the planned dining lineup is complete.

The company has also not detailed the next operating phases for Buffalo Bill’s and Whiskey Pete’s. Primm Valley’s reopening will provide the first indication of how Terrible’s intends to rebuild activity across the three-property resort area after the change in management.
