Listen to this news articleLISTEN TO THIS ARTICLE:

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has announced the suspension of authorisations awarded to Tipster Limited, an online gaming operator.

This decision, effective from June 27, 2023, comes under the provision of reg. 8 (1) (f) of the Gaming Compliance and Enforcement Regulations (S.L. 583.06).

With the suspension of Tipster Limited's licenses, the company is no longer permitted to conduct any gaming operations. However, it is required to maintain access to all registered players' accounts and refund all sources in accordance with the applicable law. MGA expects the company to adhere to all legal obligations during this process.

The reason behind this sanction lies in the winding-up process of the company. The suspension is being imposed based on reg. 9 (1) (f) of the Regulations. Nevertheless, Tipster Limited has the right to appeal this decision within the framework of Article 43 of the Gaming Act (Chapter 583 of the Laws of Malta).

MGA's decision highlights the authority's commitment to maintaining integrity and compliance within the iGaming industry. By suspending the authorizations, MGA aims to protect players' interests and ensure that their funds are safeguarded.

Obligations Despite Suspension

The suspension serves as a reminder to all gaming operators in Malta to uphold the highest standards of accountability, transparency, and legal compliance. The MGA continues to closely monitor the industry, taking necessary actions to protect the interests of both players and the gaming sector as a whole.

As per the appeal process outlined by the Gaming Act, Tipster Limited could challenge the MGA's decision. It remains to be seen whether the company will exercise this right and the subsequent course of action that will be undertaken.

MGA urges players affected by this suspension to remain vigilant and follow updates provided by the authority regarding the management of their player accounts and fund refunds. Transparency and timely communication are crucial during such circumstances to ensure a smooth process for all parties involved.
