Virginia Lottery Extends IGT Contract to Modernise Lottery System

International Game Technology PLC (IGT), the industry leader in gaming and lottery solutions, has announced it has reached an agreement with the Virginia Lottery to extend the current deal.

Under the terms of the deal, IGT Global Solutions Corporation, the IGT subsidiary, has extended the agreement by three years. This means the partnership between both parties will now run until October 2033, with an additional option for three one-year extensions.

The partnership between IGT and the Virginia Lottery has lasted for more than two decades, starting in 2000, and the amended deal will see IGT enhance the current system with updated, cutting-edge technology. IGT has also been the largest supplier of instant tickets in the state since 2020.

Upgrade Lottery System

As part of the new agreement, IGT is to supply its newest product to the Virginia Lottery. IGT is to provide its Aurora platform, part of the IGT OMNIA lottery solution, which will now be used to power the central retail system of the State lottery.

IGT will also replace the current 5,500 lottery terminals with its modernized Retailer Pro S2 terminals, which have high performance and high-volume capabilities. This new solution is more modular and scalable and allows for the addition of new features across all lottery terminals.

IGT has stated that it plans to roll out the upgraded system to the Virginia Lottery in its entirety by the end of October 2025.

IGT has worked closely with the Virginia Lottery for more than 20 years to deliver world-class, innovative lottery solutions and services, The upgraded technology being deployed for the Virginia Lottery as part of our latest extension will offer increased flexibility for the Lottery to easily manage its back-end operations. Additionally, the introduction of a progressive jackpot feature to the Lottery's Print 'n Play games will provide players with engaging new experiences.
