The WPT announced earlier this year that it was eyeing a return to Macau. All poker came to an abrupt halt in 2018 when China began discouraging the game. However, since last year, and including this year's Macao Masters series, there has been a resurgence of interest.

The upcoming WPT Macau, which will be held at the Wynn Macau, will include events with buy-ins starting at a modest HKD5,000 (approximately US$640) and escalating to HKD200,000 (around US$25,540) for those seeking the ultimate high-stakes challenge. The centerpiece of the WPT Macau is the Championship event, which boasts a buy-in of HKD40,000 (roughly US$5,100). It will run from June 20 to June 24 and offers participants the chance to etch their name on the coveted Mike Sexton WPT Champions Cup.

The Championship event is structured to provide an intense and competitive atmosphere, with two starting days to accommodate the expected influx of players. The tournament structure is meticulously designed, featuring 60-minute levels on Day 1 and Day 2, which then extend to 90 minutes as the event progresses before culminating in 45-minute blinds during the heads-up phase. Players begin with a starting stack of 50,000 chips, allowing for strategic depth and play variation.

High Roller events are also a highlight of the WPT Macau, attracting deep-pocketed grinders of the poker world. The series kicks off with the Mini High Roller, a two-day event starting on June 18, with a buy-in of HKD50,000 (US$6,385) and 40-minute levels.

Following closely is the Super High Roller, the most exclusive tournament of the series, running from June 19 to June 20, with a buy-in of HKD200,000 (US$25,530). This event is expected to draw in some of the most prominent figures in the poker scene, offering a substantial starting stack of 250,000 and providing ample opportunity for high-level play.
