According to police, the theft occurred in the early morning hours, just after 4 am local time on Monday, Aug. 18, 2025. The casino where the theft happened was J.P. McGill’s Casino on Bennett Avenue.
The suspect in custody is Andrew Irvine. He’s a 26-year-old man from Colorado Springs. He was arrested later that same day, according to an arrest affidavit.

The affidavit contained information regarding what the police saw on surveillance footage.
The document revealed that the suspect, believed to be Irvine, was seen jumping over the cashier’s cage counter, opening the drawer, and using both of his hands to grab what the affidavit described as “a substantial amount of cash”.
After stealing the money, Irvine jumped back over the counter and was seen running away. During the time of the theft, the cashier who would’ve been there wasn’t. Instead, the cashier was in a separate room, which is attached to the cash cage. The suspect, Irvine, and the cashier didn’t communicate whatsoever.
This isn’t the first time Irvine has tried this, though. Not only that, he allegedly tried this same thing at the same casino on July 19.
During that attempted robbery, Irvine allegedly jumped over the counter, but according to the police affidavit, a cashier who was behind the counter pushed Irvine away, prevented the robbery, and Irvine scurried away before being able to get any cash. A warrant for his arrest was issued following that incident.
