Betfred Deal with PDC to Extend Sponsorship of Darts World Matchplay

Betfred, a leading UK gambling operator, has announced it will extend its current title sponsorship of the Betfred World Matchplay of darts with the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) by another three years.

The initial agreement to sponsor the tournament, held in Blackpool in the UK, started four years ago in 2019. The announcement came before the final of the tournament this year, which was contested by Gerwyn Price and a resurgent Michael van Gerwen who went on to win the title.

This year also saw the start of a new women’s competition called the Betfred Women’s World Matchplay, won by one of the favourites Fallon Sherrock.

Our sponsorship of the Betfred World Matchplay has been a brilliant success for the past four years and I’m delighted that we’ll be working with the PDC until at least 2025, The Betfred World Matchplay is one of my favourite sporting events each year and the 2022 event has been a wonderful championship. You can see from the superb standard of the players and the brilliant, sell-out crowds in Blackpool just how much this tournament means to everyone and we’re already looking forward to 2023 and beyond.

Earlier this month Betfred agreed to another sponsorship deal, this time with the Cincinnati Bengals, as the gaming operator looks for expansion in North American markets.

The announcement of our new agreement with Betfred is a great way to end a memorable week. Betfred have enjoyed huge exposure over the past four years with their sponsorship of the World Matchplay and we’re delighted to continue to work with them for at least the next three years.
