Betsson Granted Access to Cordoba after Regulatory Approval

European online gambling giant, Betsson has been approved to enter the province of Cordoba in Argentina, after it was granted a license to operate there.

This is somewhat of a landmark for the group, which is seeing its reputation swiftly grow in the country, with this being its third province.

It will see Betsson form a commercial alliance with land-based entity, Casino de Victoria which is part of Grupo Mautone, as is the law in the country, with external online brands needing to have a brick-and-mortar partner.

How Significant Is This for Betsson in Its LATAM Growth Strategy?

Over the last couple of years, the Swedish brand has witnessed considerable growth in a territory that is showing signs that it can be a key mover in the wider LATAM (Latin American) market.

Indeed, the brand’s business partnership dates back over one year, with both entities working together to launch operations in the Province of Buenos Aires and the City of Buenos Aires - two separate regulatory governances.

We are very pleased to have received a license to operate in the locally regulated market in the province of Cordoba, together with our partner, Casino de Victoria. When merging their long experience in the Argentinian market with our know-how in online gaming, we can truly reach our ambition of becoming a market leader in this rapidly growing online market.

This can, in turn, really help the brand to continue to build momentum over the next 12 months, as it looks to establish itself as one of the major forces in the country, which is becoming populated with a number of well-established operators, such as Bet365.

Could the Brand Become a Major Force?

Over the past couple of decades, Betsson has gradually built a good reputation for itself in Europe and its move into the LATAM market has seen it grow its global brand and identity, giving it more of an international footing.

While it did appear initially that Betsson was content with continuous, organic growth across Europe, it came as somewhat of a surprise in the industry when it started to make an impact in LATAM.

There is no doubt that the opportunities are there to potentially dominate, though it will be wary of the competition that it faces.
